On July 18 of the same year, the hotel and casino introduced Riders in the Sky. The Cavalcade of Comedy ran every two weeks at 8 P.M. Also included were nightclub comedians Babe Pier and Jackie Fontana. The comedy show was hosted by star of stage and screen Sal Richards, who included songs, stories, and characterizations of popular performers in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, such as Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Willie Nelson, Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra Jr., Pat Cooper, Jerry Vale, and Liza Minnelli. On January 2, 1997, Gold Coast showcased Cavalcade of Comedy in the 490-seat Dance Hall Showroom at the casino. On October 19, 1995, a Nevada truck driver won a jackpot of $10,918,881.00 on a Megabucks slots machine, the largest jackpot in Nevada history at the time. It was originally meant to cater to the fast growing local popularity.

It was the first ever casino in Las Vegas to have a first-run movie theater after the original MGM Grand (Now known as Bally's in 1986). The hotel officially opened December 21, 1986. Gold Coast was the first ever hotel and casino built by former Barbary Coast and South Point owner, Michael Gaughan. The hotel is currently owned by Boyd Gaming and opened in 1986.
